Website accessibility statement
This statement covers tiic.intentional.ae, the website for The Intentional Inclusion Celebration. It sets out what we conform to, what we do not, and what to do if you hit a barrier.
Our conformance claim
This website conforms fully to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and additionally meets six Level AAA success criteria listed below.
We do not claim full Level AAA conformance. No general purpose website realistically achieves it, and claiming it would be misleading. The AAA criteria we do not meet are named below with the reason, so you can judge for yourself rather than take our word for it.
How we test
Accessibility is checked on every single change, automatically, before it can go live. A change that breaks it fails the build.

Automated, on every commit
axe-core and Pa11y run against every page of the built site, alongside HTML validation and a link check.

Manual, on every release
Keyboard-only navigation of every page, screen reader passes, 400% zoom, 320px reflow, and reduced-motion checks.

Recorded, criterion by criterion
Every WCAG 2.2 success criterion is logged with its status, how it is met and the evidence, in a record kept alongside the site's source code.
Automated tools catch perhaps a third of accessibility problems. They are the floor here, not the ceiling.
Level AAA criteria we also meet
- 2.4.9 Link Purpose (Link Only)
- Every link makes sense read on its own, out of context. No "click here", no "read more" without a subject.
- 2.5.5 Target Size (Enhanced)
- Every link, button and control is at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels, including the navigation and footer links.
- 3.3.5 Help
- Contact routes appear on every page, and the registration page offers email and WhatsApp alongside the form.
- 1.4.8 Visual Presentation
- Body text is capped at roughly 66 characters per line, never justified, with line spacing of at least 1.5 and no horizontal scrolling at 200% text size.
- 2.2.6 Timeouts
- Nothing on this site times out. The countdown is display only and never expires a session or a form.
- 2.3.3 Animation from Interactions
- A "Reduce motion" switch in the footer turns off every animation on the site, and it is already switched on if your system asks for reduced motion. You can also turn motion back on here if your system setting says otherwise. No animation is essential to any content.
Level AAA criteria we do not meet
- 1.4.6 Contrast (Enhanced), Level AAA
- TIIC's identity is built on a joyful multicolour palette, and forcing every element to a 7:1 ratio would flatten it. All text meets the Level AA ratios, and body text on white and on the pastel fills exceeds 9:1 — but a few large headings in brand colours sit between 4.5:1 and 7:1.
- 1.2.6 Sign Language (Prerecorded), Level AAA
- The TIIC podcast is not yet published with sign language interpretation. Given that the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community is part of the audience this festival is for, we consider this a gap worth closing rather than an acceptable exclusion, and it is on the list.
- 3.1.5 Reading Level, Level AAA
- We write plainly and avoid jargon, but some passages will read above lower secondary level. We have not produced an easy-read version of the site.
Known limitations
These are the parts of the site we cannot fully guarantee, all of them third-party components. In each case there is a route that does not depend on them.

The registration form
The form on the registration page is provided by Tally, a third party whose code we do not control and cannot fix. We have not been able to verify it against WCAG 2.2 AA end to end. Because of that, registration is also available by email and by WhatsApp, and either reaches the same team and works just as well.

Embedded video
When the TIIC podcast is published, episodes will be embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced player. YouTube supplies that player, including its controls and captions, and we cannot modify it. A direct link to each episode is always offered alongside the embed.

Maps
Directions link out to Google Maps rather than embedding it, because the embedded map is difficult to use by keyboard. The venue address is always given as text so the map is never required.

If any part of this site is hard or impossible for you to use, we want to know — and we will fix it rather than explain it away. Tell us what you were trying to do, which page you were on, and what got in the way.
We aim to reply within five working days. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will tell you what we are doing instead and give you another way to get what you needed.

This statement is reviewed whenever the site changes materially, and at minimum before the festival on 3 December 2026.
